St. Maurice School Safety Reminder
The staff of St. Maurice School is committed to keeping children safe while at school. Your cooperation while dropping off and picking children up is absolutely essential in this endeavour. The school administration requests that all drivers please honour the following safe driving practices while dropping off and picking up their children:
- RESPECT - courteous, respectful treatment of others is what is expected of our students...Let'sdo our best to model this behaviour in the parking lot.
- Enter and exit the parking lot according to the posted signs.
- Exit the parking via the back lanes only.
- Drive slowly and cautiously through the lot.
- Cooperate with the parking lot volunteers as they help direct the safe movement of people and vehicles.
- Park only in the marked parking spots. Parking in unmarked areas severely limits the visibility of all drivers and the safe movement of traffic.
- For convenience purposes if all traffic on Manahan flows from east to west, less congestion will occur. Turn left on Manahan and take Hudson to Chevrier (or continue down the back lane to Hudson). This also makes getting back onto Pembina Highway easier due to the lights at Chevrier.
In order to continue to improve the level of safety provided for your children, as well as an attempt to improve the overall cooperation of parents, the administration will be working in collaboration with the Winnipeg Police Department to ensure safe driving practices are maintained on school property and surrounding areas. If you have any questions or suggestions that would assist us in this process please do not hesitate to call the school.
