As part of I Love to Read month, 2A class was selected to have a virtual reading with two Winnipeg ICE hockey players- Connor McClennon and Nolan Orzeck. Needless to say, the students were very excited.
The organization did a fantastic job setting this up. The players read two wonderful books “Mainer’s Move” and “Ari’s Awful Day”. A lesson plan for these books were sent in advance. Both had a wonderful message about kindness and to never judge a person by how they look. This was followed by a meaningful discussion, then Q&A for the players.
This could not have been made possible without one of my parents who applied for this. Always grateful for our SMS parents who support our school in whatever way they can.
